The January transfer window is typically a period of intense rumour and possible big-money moves. A number of high-profile footballers are being linked with transfers out of their present clubs. This article explores some of the top figures who might be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the forward available, it appears a significant transfer is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a contract featuring a £65 million release clause applicable for a short period in early January. Recent developments indicate the Premier League champions have emerged as his services. Other interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other targets, leaving clubs like Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has continued to impress for Palace this season a previous move to Liverpool falling through. As his deal due to run out in the close season, January is the club's final chance to obtain a fee for their skipper. A host of top sides, such as City and several European giants including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. However, a January departure is considered unlikely, especially given the manager's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

The Welsh forward has found starting minutes limited at Spurs this campaign. Despite finishing as the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun only a handful of league matches. It is understood the North London outfit would be willing to consider a sale for the correct price, believed to be in the around £40 million. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

R. Neves

The Portugal midfielder might be set for a return to the Premier League following a period in Saudi Arabia. Still just 28, while his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a possible bargain. Teams such as Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spanish media that he would be prepared to take a reduced salary for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran Germany shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barça under the manager Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a January exit looks highly probable. Villa were initially linked as a possible destination, but that option now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

The proven England centre-forward has kept scoring frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might boost his fading chances of being in the England World Cup. The highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has become a regular in the AZ first team. The teenager is heavily expected to make a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face strong competition from Real Madrid for a signing priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
