Netflix Selects Ideal Performer for Bentham in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the major clash isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, popular member has now been chosen.
The platform declared this week that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Bon Clay. The role possesses the power to change into an perfect replica of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that role re-envisioned as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action series, unlike the initial comic and cartoon version.
This performer is joined by a number of new cast members set to bring Baroque Works to the screen, featuring head the main antagonist, played by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the cast as the ruler of the desert kingdom.
Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the character won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the second season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this marks a notable change in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal more adjustments to the story’s structure.
Their mix of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the part. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.
Netflix's live-action One Piece program is due to premiere for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
