Six Suspects Apprehended After 12 Million Euro Armed Raid on Gold Refining Lab in France

A group of six individuals carrying high-powered firearms employed explosives to break into a gold refining laboratory located in the city of Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five staff members during described as the newest significant broad daylight robbery to occur in the nation.

The bold operation took place on the afternoon of Thursday, with officers rapidly detaining the individuals believed responsible and recovering the stolen goods assessed at around €12M (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five employees of Laboratoires Pourquery sustained minor injuries due to the explosion, and three employees were transported to hospital for evaluation, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the thieves struck.

The suspects, considered seasoned offenders, were taken into custody soon afterwards in the neighboring community of the town of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female participant who participated in the heist was taken into custody as well, officers confirmed.

“Six suspects who employed explosive devices in a raid against a metals processing plant in Lyon were apprehended red-handed,” France's security official announced via X, commending law enforcement for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The raid happened as French police on that Thursday apprehended five additional individuals, including a primary suspect, in regarding this month's brazen Louvre museum robbery.

Many investigative personnel have been searching for four robbers who utilized a lorry featuring an elevating platform and cutting gear to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the museum on October 19th, making off with ornaments assessed at around €88 million.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently forced their way into the Parisian museum of natural history, taking gold specimens valued at more than one million dollars. A woman from China, aged 24 was arrested earlier this month in the city of Barcelona in connection with the break-in, officials confirmed.
