Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from above,” the coach stated.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with performances like these.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
