The British player made it to the third stage in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments during the season.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions this season as a result of a medical condition she has been battling for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover before starting her preparations for 2026.

Her upcoming training will include her coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.

Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the third set in the match with Zhu because of the lower back problem that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament then falling in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
